Professor Colin Bailey, CBE, President and Principal of Queen Mary University of London, who attended all three ceremonies said: and shared: "I would like to congratulate our 2025 graduates at BUPT, NCU and NPU as they graduate from their degrees this last week. We graduated over 1000 students on our joint programmes across China and it was a pleasure to meet them all individually to congratulate them on their success.
“Studying dual degrees has its challenges; their journey and achievement is to be commended. With their knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivities, language skills and unique skillset acquired using the latest technologies, our graduates are fully prepared to take on the next challenge in their studies or professional careers. I feel incredibly proud of each and every one of our graduates, as will their families, friends, University staff and peers. Congratulations.”
Each year, the Faculty of Science and Engineering supports more than 5,230 students through four transnational education (TNE) partnerships in China, a number that continues to grow with new programmes and deeper collaboration.
Queen Mary’s partnership with BUPT, its longest-standing TNE partnership in China, marked its 20th anniversary in 2024. This pioneering alliance has delivered joint programmes in Telecommunications, Internet of Things , E-commerce, Electronic Information Engineering , and Intelligent Science.

At NCU, Queen Mary offers a joint BSc in Biomedical Sciences, the largest single intake across all its TNE programmes. Meanwhile, the partnership with NPU in Xi’an, known as Queen Mary Engineering School (QMES), specialises in innovative Materials Science and Polymer Engineering, producing some of the most academically competitive graduates in the network.

Yang Rui, a graduate of the Materials Science and Engineering programme at NPU, who has secured a place for postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge, highlighted:
“As I prepare to turn the page on this important chapter of my life, I feel incredibly honoured and grateful to be named an Outstanding Graduate of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, NPU. These past four years have shaped my character, tested my resilience, and deepened my understanding of the world.Always keep in mind that integrity is just as important as intelligence. Let your work reflect not only your skills but also your values.”

Ms Suifeng Zhao, a graduate of BSc Internet of Things Engineering from Queen Mary-BUPT Joint Programme, who was celebrated with Queen Mary prize, reflected:
“My years at Queen Mary have been filled with warmth, inspiration, and unforgettable memories. I'm truly thankful for the friendships, encouragement, and sense of belonging I found here. From the bottom of my heart, I wish Queen Mary a future as bright and meaningful as the experiences it gave me.”
Liu Yuxin, graduate of the BSc Biomedical Sciences at NCU and recipient of the President’s Award, said:
"It has been an incredible journey pursuing the dual degree in Chinese Clinical Medicine and UK Biomedical Science here. The rigorous academics, cutting-edge research opportunities, and multicultural environment have profoundly shaped my aspirations. After graduation, I will begin my Ph.D. at Peking University Third Hospital, focusing on human reproduction. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of my professors, mentors, and peers at Queen Mary."
Over the past week, alumni relations also took centre stage with dedicated events in Shanghai and Beijing, bringing together graduates, staff, and university partners to celebrate achievements, reconnect, and strengthen professional networks.
